Many of us like to start our day with a fine and delicious cup of coffee, but what if, one morning, we get it directly from the farm. Hot and fresh, along with an alluring view of the infinite mountain range.
Yes, I am talking about Chikmagalur!!. A place just a few hours drive away from “The IT capital of India,” Bangalore. Tucked away in the lap of western ghats and covered with clouds makes it an excellent place to spend your weekend, far away from city hush and rush.
Day 0:
The trip started at 9:30 PM, and we drove the whole night, the initial half on the NH75 and the rest on the curvy roads of the hill. Chikmagalur welcomed us with light fog, misty weather, and light rain showers. All the leaves were sparkling with the first rays of the morning sun. As we go higher, the temperature decreases, making weather more comfortable, and pollution starts to decrease.
Day 1:
By 6:00 AM, we came to our allotted rooms. The services at the homestay and the hygiene of the room were commendable. The view from the bedroom and balcony was mesmerizing. You directly wake up with a mountain view through the window and with the chirping of birds.
After completing our delicious breakfast, we quickly headed towards Ballarayana Durga for trekking around 10 AM. Our destination was 4KM away from our homestay. In between, we came across a wide variety of bio-diversity.
We came back completely exhausted to our rooms by lunchtime. After having lunch, we went towards the waterfall. There we took a lot of pictures. Felt the cool breeze and water sprinkles on our faces. There we had our evening tea and hot noodles. The sunset from the waterfall was romantic.
We had our dinner around the bonfire at night, with hundreds of candle lights and light music in the background. It was looking like a movie scene. We sang, we danced, we chatted and enjoyed our Booze.
Day 2:
The next day everyone woke up early. After finishing off our breakfast, we went for our morning walk in the lap of the coffee plantation. There are saw a variety of coffee beans and gather little knowledge about coffee from the plantation owners. That day I had the best coffee of my life, that too directly from the farm. We bought coffee for our home as well.
After lunch, we returned home on the same day, with memorable moments in our hearts. Chikmagalur is not just a coffee plantation town; it is a wholesome experience. Relief to mind and soul. It reenergized everyone to continue their hustle in life.
